review backlog - vacation

chip2000   February 5th, 2013 8:02a.m.

Hi. If I go on vacation (under account settings) can I still work through my review backlog?

learninglife   February 5th, 2013 8:08a.m.

yes. in vacation mode you just freeze the input.
which means you cant add any new words but still review all the ones that are in the system.

i havent tried but this is how i understand the information.

Vacation mode will actually ask you to cancel vacation mode before studying again, as it thinks that if you're studying, you're probably back from vacation. To avoid a monthly charge, you can, however, cancel your subscription and do your overdue reviews, then just re-subscribe when you're ready to add new words again. (This won't extend any prepaid time you may have already paid for, though.)

If you make sure to set your iOS device to Airplane mode before opening Skritter, can you circumvent this behavior?

chip2000   February 6th, 2013 7:56a.m.

Hi Nick. I am on the 9.95 subscription (which I assume is because I am an early subscriber). If I cancel and re-subscribe will it be at 14.99?

nick   February 6th, 2013 2:02p.m.

Laspimon, I'm not sure--Scott implemented the vacation feature, and I'm not sure how he did it on iOS. Why don't you give it a shot and let me know how it works?

chip2000, you'll always have the $9.95 monthly price on that account, even after canceling and resubscribing. (But the discount won't work on the one-month iOS purchase, since pricing is trickier to customize on the App Store, so make sure to buy through the site in that case.)
