Unable to nuke progress

Schnabelhund   December 29th, 2010 8:05a.m.

Hi,
I was going to nuke my progress in Japanese but I don't seem to be able to do so. When I click "delete all", I can empty "my words", but when I add the words from my lists, my previous progress remains. What am I doing wrong?

I believe that the protocol the site uses when you nuke is to remove everything you've studied but to keep the progress statistics hidden in the background, so when an old word or character comes up it treats it with the same SRS memory as it had before the nuke.

No, it's supposed to delete all progress. I had a similar problem a couple weeks ago when I decided to nuke my Chinese and start completely over. I asked for help, and Scott fixed me up.

My understanding was similar to FatDragon's, that it didn't actually delete the history completely in case you re-added the same characters.

My understanding was that FatDragon and jww1066 are correct. I nuked my account and all of that information remained behind.

They are usually very helpful here, though. If you email them, or when they see this thread for that matter, they will probably help you out.

Hmm, I'm not sure what's going on here; if you go to the delete all page and click the button, it should work on deleting everything, then say 'Done' once it's finished. When I did it for jcdoss, it worked as it should have, so I'm not sure how to reproduce the problem.

What does the progress text look like Schnabelhund when you try to delete all your info?

Hi there, I'm having a similar problem.

I tried out the reading prompts for words briefly (the ones where you type in pinyin to the prompt on the screen) and decided that I didn't really need to do it.

However, it remembered my progress so every time I look at my all-time statistics it says 100% in big yellow warning letters on the reading part. It's trivial, but annoys me greatly.

I tried to delete the words in question but it still remembered my progress.

Is there anything I can do about this?

Unfortunately there's no way to destroy part of your prorgess; it's an all or nothing sort of thing. And having only partial statistics in the backend is likely to muck something up; it's fairly complex and doing something that it's not built for could very well break something.
