Glitch in Linux (Ubuntu)

Schnabelhund   November 14th, 2011 12:27a.m.

Hi!
I don't know if this has been brought up already (couldn't find anything), but here it goes:
There are glitches when I skritter in Ubuntu, mainly the problem is that the canvas doesn't refresh after the review. I can partially refresh it by hovering the mouse over it. I'm using two Ubuntu machines and they both have the same problem. Is there a way to solve this?

I got exactly the same problem. Tried with Chrome and Firefox. :(

This sometimes happens to me, too. I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit version and Firefox.

Weird.. I'm on LinuxMint, which is derived from Ubuntu. I don't have this problem at all. Firefox 7.0.1 LinuxMint 11 64-bit. Also works fine in Chrome for me.

Can't help with the Ubuntu problem... just wanted to comment on Schnabelhund's avatar choice. Nice Dragonball/Red Ribbon Army reference there. :D

That is all.

It seems to be related to hardware acceleration in Flash Player being a little whack. However, although some helped a bit, none of the different settings fully eliminated the problem for one tester, including those without hardware acceleration. That could be a fluke, though. If you'd like to try different configurations real quick and see which work best for you, try these links:

Same as Jose here on arch linux. It started happening with version 11 of the flash plugin.

These two versions in the repositories have the bug:
11.1.102.55
11.0.1.152

The last version in the repo that did not have the bug is:
10.0.45.2

I'm thinking that we'll try to wait for a Flash Player update. A couple bugs I found in the Adobe bugbase seemed related and are listed as fixed in the next major version. I don't have anything else to go on.

I just tried the beta version (11.2.202.19) of the flash plugin. Have only tested it for a couple of minutes but it seems that with the "opaque" or "transparent" settings the glitches have been greatly reduced but not eliminated.

edit: When using the 32-bit version 11.1.102.55 the bug seems to disappear entirely.

edit2: I noticed that I was actually not running the 32-bit version of flash. The glitches are virtually gone when practising with the beta version of skritter and beta (11.2.202.19) version of flash :)
