Explorer 9 doesn't work with Skritter at the moment

costeni   March 15th, 2011 7:17p.m.

Anyone tried Explorer 9 (actual release version 9.0.8112.16421) with Skritter? I downloaded it today and it doesn't seem to work. When you go on to the study page various bits are missing. I'm sure this will get solved soon, I'm just writing this to make sure that somebody notices it and solves it.

Funny, I would never choose to use IE when there are so many better choices available.

@costeni - Just click the "Compatability View" icon in the address bar. Works fine then. Definitely some miscommunication between IE9 and Skritter that will get worked out soon enough, I'm sure.

@Thomas - While not an IE fanatic (I switch between it and FF4), I must admit version 9 is a nice upgrade, and definitely puts it back into the realm of competitive browsing experiences. For now, that is. With Chrome and (soon) Firefox on continuous update cycles, Microsoft needs to figure out how to stay relevant. Not sure if it'll happen, but they at least have a backdoor solution to problems such as pages not working on the new version.

Sorry, my resentment for IE comes from traveling around China and trying desperately to Skritter at net bars, hotels, and on personal computers, all being hopelessly stuck on IE6 for the next 10 years. Even now, my university only supports IE6. I mean, seriously...

Just thinking about the iphone app makes me drool.

I also hardly use Internet Explorer. It's so slow compared to the others and always full of security issues.

Try using Firefox, Safari or Google Chrome. Ditch IE for good.

I think it would be a bad marketing idea for Skritter to stop supporting IE. Not that I use it myself, but there are lots of people who do, either out of inertia, preference, or lack of an alternative (maybe they're at an Internet café, etc.).

All fixed! Had to upgrade jQuery apparently, having that broken ruined a whole lot of the site.

We support IE7+, but yeah, IE6 we decided to stop supporting because it just took more time than it was worth given how buggy and old it is. It's used rarely at this point, except for China and strangely South Korea.
