Android no longer supports reading mode?

jww1066   March 15th, 2011 6:38p.m.

I tried to study on my phone recently and when I set it to only readings I got a message "reading mode is not supported on Android". This seems a little extreme. Since you now have the grading buttons for readings, why not turn the reading prompts into pure flash cards on Android (i.e. they wouldn't have the prompt to type into) and people would have to self-grade? Then at least we could get something done on the go.

Another issue is that, when you select only some parts, the message box that pops up can't be closed (at least on my phone) because the little 'X' is too tiny, and it covers up the "Settings" button so you can't go back in and change it to a different set of parts. The only way out is to restart adding.

It's supposed to have always done that; if you recall, I could never figure out why it wasn't disabled properly for you.

Now that the grading buttons are in, it will make more sense to re-enable it, but I still have to do some work to stop it from having the typer input and popping up the keyboard. I'll get it on the list.

I'll also mod that close "x" like I did with the other popups on that page when I get a chance.

I made it so that the reading practice is now enabled and is in flashcard mode for Android, similar to definition practice.

Awesome! I was able to do all my homework while lying in the sun in a nice riverside park and eavesdropping on a lover's quarrel.

That's great! Better get your reviews done before Gandalf comes along and upsets the Shire again.

Nice work on the Android support, by the way. Things seem to be shaping up nicely.

One minor issue: on the Nexus One the "Settings" dialog is kind of big, and the options kind of small, at least for my phone's screen. It would be nice to resize it somehow and make the tiny checkboxes easier to click.

I knew it. My Android to-do list was getting so small. I thought I might actually see the end of it. Then I thought, "But wait--when I tell James about this, he's just going to unleash a few more of the bugs he's stored up forever. Maybe I'll just not tell him..." Alas!

That's great. Perhaps I'll start referring to myself as a cybernetic entomologist at parties.
